Welcome to YATB (Yet Another Tech Blog). I’m glad you’re here!

This is the place where I explore enterprise IT solutions for use at home. Or, as I like to say, “Enterprise. At home.”. “But why?”, you may ask. Simple. As engineers, we overbuild. We use safety factors of 1.5x – 2x to protect against failure. I’d like to think of myself as a 10x engineer, so I use a factor of safety of 10. I like to overbuild. And nothing says “overbuilt” as watching Netflix while connected through a Cisco Catalyst switch…

We’ll explore enterprise-ish solutions and their applications in a homelab. We’ll do some practical projects, some not so practical but still fun. We’ll use older equipment, or home versions of full featured applications. We’ll look at free open source solutions as their suitability for homelab and production environments. And, most importantly, we’ll learn and have fun. So don’t take this blog too seriously, but I hope you do find it useful. And if you do, please share it with others!

Also, as with most (any?) open source project, the information on this website is provided “as-is”, without warranty of any kind, expressed, or implied. Please read the statement at the bottom of the page.

This image has been generated by AI. Actually it’s several images that I merged together. I don’t have access to Photoshop anymore and I had to use GIMP. And, actually, it was not as bad as it was 10 years ago when I tried it last. I would prefer Photoshop but beggars can’t be choosers, so GIMP it is. But hey, it’s free at least. Also, with the uncertainty about the copyright of the AI generated work, I put enough (I think) work to make this image transformative. So, © 2025 DIY Sysadmin. All Rights Reserved.
